How to get the most benefit from this non–diet weight loss programme

top of the morning You'll do well with the programme if you have had enough of dieting and are willing to learn a new intuitive eating approach, where you decide for yourself what to eat rather than being dictated to about what is "good" and "bad". This can be tough for some people at first, but is very liberating.

You'll also do well if you are willing to think about the causes of overeating and confront these, rather than just trying to eat less. You will need to tackle comfort eating and the reasons why you might eat when you aren't hungry. You'll also need to be prepared to lose weight steadily, and have a target of being slim and healthy rather than stick thin!

It is also important to make a commitment to being active, if you are to be slim and feel great in the long term.

Our typical clients are often successful in other areas of life and cannot understand why this one area isn't working. Because the conventional advice is just to eat less and take more exercise, it sounds so simple and they can't understand why they struggle so much, for example with emotional eating. This can make it seem impossible to stop evereating, no matter how hard you try. (The truth of the matter is that this is the wrong way to lose weight and they have been badly advised. Dieting just causes more comfort eating and more eating when you aren't hungry.)

Often our clients eat quite healthily most of the time (or at least they eat what they think is healthy) and can't understand why they keep putting on weight. Some even seem to eat very little and eat a low fat diet. (It's very surprising but eating too little, not eating when hungry or not eating enough fat can cause weight gain.)

Most of our clients are knowledgable about diets and exercise and know what they "should" be doing, but just can't seem to do it. They may comfort eat and feel somewhat out of control about this.

They are often very busy at work and/or with their family and may struggle to find time for themselves.
